NCDMB, Bellazir equip youth with advanced safety skills

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has stepped up its drive to build a new generation of technically skilled Nigerians with the completion of an intensive training programme on fire alarm, gas detection and access control technologies, delivered in partnership with Bellazir Limited.

The initiative produced fifty young professionals who are now equipped with industry-ready competencies required to strengthen safety and security systems across key national sectors.

Held over several days, the programme immersed participants in practical sessions covering addressable fire alarm systems, calibration of high-end gas detectors and the deployment of modern access control solutions. Facilitators took the trainees through operational principles, installation procedures and maintenance processes while underscoring the technologies’ relevance to industrial safety, risk prevention and uninterrupted operations.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Felix Omatsola Ogbe said the initiative was conceived to deepen Nigeria’s human capacity in specialised fields that are critical to protecting infrastructure across the energy and industrial value chains.

Represented by the Supervisor on Projects at NCDMB, Collins Emuobonuvie, he stated that the programme directly supports the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly its objectives on job creation, youth empowerment and sustainable economic growth through improved technical competence and safety culture.

He praised the trainees for their dedication throughout the exercise, noting that the skills they acquired position them to take on vital roles in hazard detection, access management and facility protection. Ogbe said the Board remained committed to expanding opportunities that enable Nigerians to occupy skilled positions and reduce risks within industrial environments.

He said, “At NCDMB, we firmly believe that building local capacity is central to achieving sustainable development. The Fire Alarm, Gas Detection, and Access Control Technologies Training align perfectly with our mandate to develop a pool of competent Nigerians capable of taking up skilled roles across the energy value chain. It also strengthens our national capacity in industrial safety, risk mitigation, and facility protection.”

He urged the participants to put their new competencies to meaningful use by becoming safety leaders and innovators who will help safeguard national assets. Ogbe also applauded Bellazir Limited and the facilitators for their commitment to delivering a successful programme.

The Chief Executive Officer of Bellazir Energy, Christabel Aniemeka, said the depth of exposure provided during the sessions reflected the company’s drive to equip young Nigerians with the knowledge needed to operate and maintain critical safety systems.
She explained that the training blended advanced technologies with practical procedures that support operational efficiency.
