The Director-General of the Atum Humanitarian, Anti-Corruption and Charitable Initiative (AHACCI), Hon. Ismaila Atus, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will defeat terrorism, banditry and other security threats confronting the country.
He said the President’s Lagos security blueprint offers a tested model for restoring national stability.
Speaking during a media interaction in Abuja, Atus said insecurity deteriorated under previous administrations but noted that Tinubu has shown the political will and commitment needed to reverse the trend.
Noting Tinubu’s record as governor of Lagos State, Atus said Nigeria stands to benefit from the same model that transformed Lagos from a crime-prone state to a stable and prosperous one through initiatives such as Operation Sweep.
Atus maintained that the President’s approach to security is anchored on intelligence-driven operations and stronger coordination among security agencies, adding that the renewed push for technology-based surveillance and rapid-response mechanisms reflects the same strategy that helped Lagos drastically reduce crime during Tinubu’s tenure as governor.
“If you knew Lagos before Tinubu took over, you would understand the transformation. At one point, you could not walk freely. But Lagos became safe and prosperous under his leadership. The same idea will make Nigeria grow.
“We all know what happened in this country. There were several cases of kidnapping and many other issues. But under President Tinubu, I am optimistic things will improve. He is doing everything possible to fix the country,” he said.
Atus urged Nigerians to remain patient and supportive of the President, insisting that sustained backing would enable Tinubu consolidate ongoing reforms.
“We should give him more time. That is why we are asking for his re-election for a second term. With this, Nigeria will be better and more grateful,” he said.
He commended Tinubu’s interventions in humanitarian sectors, noting that recent policies are targeted at improving the welfare of vulnerable Nigerians, creating job opportunities and reducing hardship.
He said the President is taking care of a lot of vulnerable Nigerians, including the old, young and working class to create jobs, adding that “when the country is peaceful, opportunities will increase and hardship will reduce,”
Atus expressed confidence that Nigerians would witness what he believes will be a positive turnaround under Tinubu, while reiterating support for the President’s second-term bid.
“He is putting all his energy into building the country. We will support him for a second-term re-election so the progress can continue,” he said.
