Nightlife personality and actor Idowu Adeyemi, popularly known as Yhemolee, has reacted to the ongoing online feud between singer Ayodeji Balogun, also known as Wizkid, and Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti.

The drama started after Seun criticised Wizkid’s fanbase, popularly known as Wizkid FC, for comparing the Grammy-winning singer with his late father, Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. Seun described such comparisons as disrespectful to his father’s legacy and influence.

During an Instagram Live session, Seun warned fans to stop dragging Fela into online debates. He said, “Wizkid FC, keep Fela’s name out of your mouths. You try to claim that your fake artiste is the new Fela… It is actually an insult to compare Wizkid to Fela.”

He also accused fans of ignorance, saying, “You people have no respect. If your lack of respect came from a place of defiance, I would respect it. But your lack of respect comes from a place of ignorance.”

The feud escalated on Tuesday, the sixth day of Seun’s sustained criticism of Wizkid FC, when Wizkid responded directly through a series of Instagram Story and X posts.

The singer wrote, “Pu**y boy @thenigbirdkuti ok i big pass your papa!!! wetin u one do? Fool at 40!.”

In another post, he added, “@bigbirdkuti I’m Big Wiz everyday bigger than your papa!! Wetin u wan do fool?”

Wizkid also reacted on X, formerly Twitter, where he criticised Seun’s actions while referencing Fela’s legacy. He wrote, “Fela fight for freedom this fool Dey fight fc! Oloshi Omo ale!”

The exchange triggered widespread reactions across social media platforms, with Nigerians divided over respect, legacy, fandom culture and how public figures handle conflict online.

Reacting to the controversy, Yhemolee shared his opinion via Snapchat, blaming Seun for engaging Wizkid’s fanbase and allowing the situation to spiral.
He wrote,“No be only you be Fela piken!! Only you won face FC? How? Wetin you chop?? Rage baited wiz till e burst out!! And everybody know sey the man mouth worst! Fela died 29yrs ago!! Who dem born that same year self would be 30yrs next year. But you are fighting teenagers and Gen Z’s that know absolutely nothing about him.. Make it make sense.”

Yhemolee suggested that Seun should have ignored the provocation rather than confronting young fans who did not experience Fela’s era.

The feud has continued to spark debate online, with some users supporting Seun’s stance on protecting his father’s legacy, while others argue that the prolonged back-and-forth was unnecessary.

Seun’s sister, Motunrayo Kuti, also weighed in on the controversy, criticising how Fela’s name is often dragged into online arguments and insisting that his legacy deserves respect.
