The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has applauded the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Professor Adekunle Olanrewaju Adeogun, for fostering an atmosphere of dialogue, inclusiveness and mutual respect.
This, it said, has helped restore calm and strengthen trust between students and university management.
The National Public Relations Officer of NANS, Adeyemi Samson Ajasa, gave the commendation when he led a delegation to the institution’s management.
In a statement he personally signed, Ajasa said the visit was to formally congratulate the Acting Vice-Chancellor on his appointment and also engage in constructive discussions on student welfare and institutional harmony.
The NANS spokesperson commended the Acting Vice-Chancellor for his magnanimity, openness and student-centric approach to leadership.
He noted that Professor Adeogun’s leadership style has helped to ease tensions on campus, creating an enabling environment for academic activities to thrive without disruption. According to him, the willingness of the management to listen to students’ concerns and address them through dialogue has reinforced confidence in the university’s administrative processes.
Ajasa further stressed that NANS remains committed to peaceful engagement with university authorities across the country, adding that the TASUED management under Professor Adeogun has set a positive example worthy of emulation. He said such collaborative governance is critical to promoting stability, discipline and academic excellence in tertiary institutions.
“The National Association of Nigerian Students hereby passes a vote of confidence on the Acting Vice-Chancellor. NANS reaffirms its commitment to work with your administration and partner with the university management to promote peace, harmony and sustainable development within the institution.
“NANS remains steadfast in its resolve to support policies and initiatives that advance student welfarism, academic excellence and a stable learning environment. We look forward to a productive relationship with you and the entire management of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education,” Ajasa said.
In his response, Professor Adeogun expressed appreciation for the visit and the commendation, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to students’ welfare and open communication.
He assured the delegation that the university would continue to prioritise policies and initiatives aimed at enhancing learning conditions, maintaining peace on campus and strengthening cordial relations between students and management.
Professor Adeogun described the engagement with the students’ body as timely and constructive, noting that students remain critical stakeholders in the university system. He emphasised that sustainable peace and academic progress can only be achieved when management and students work together in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and respect.
According to him, his administration is committed to inclusive governance that carries students along in decision-making processes that affect their welfare and academic pursuits.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor also reiterated his resolve to sustain open-door policies that encourage dialogue rather than confrontation, stressing that grievances are best resolved through consultation and transparent communication.
