Anyim asks Christians in public office to lead with conviction

Former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, has admonished Christians holding public offices to lead with conviction.

Anyim spoke yesterday at the unveiling of the official logo for the 2026 Lagos national convention of the Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship International (FGBMFI), Nigeria, held in Abuja.

He said Christian engagement in governance should go beyond religious identity, noting that public officials must allow their beliefs to guide decision-making, especially in moments of pressure.

According to him, conviction-driven leadership is essential for strengthening ethical standards in both governance and public service.

The National President of FGBMFI Nigeria, Isaac Okpanachi, announced that the 2026 national convention would hold at the National Theatre, Lagos — the venue where the fellowship first took root in Nigeria.

Okpanachi also unveiled the theme of the convention as ‘Pressing Towards the Mark’ (Philippians 3:14), describing it as a call to focus, resilience and unwavering commitment to God’s purpose.

According to him, the newly unveiled logo symbolises the fellowship’s vision of reaching professionals, public servants and individuals engaged in legitimate vocations, adding that the convention would serve as a platform for spiritual and professional renewal.

The South West 3 District Coordinator and Chairman of the planning committee, Sunny Beyioku, said preparations for the convention were progressing steadily, adding that all districts of the fellowship were actively involved in the planning process.
