For Ayomide Moses Rufus, known by his stage name, Kryptoboi, his new Extended Playlist (EP), Kreepy D, is a combination of songs that expresses his distress part of life that has made and transformed him into who he is today.
Kreepy D is a summary of what life has been like for him on this path of life. It’s more or less like an expression and an outburst, which he said he feels obligated to share them because he doesn’t want to feel alone in this anymore.
Kryptoboi further said that he wants his new EP to speak to people as much as it speaks to him. Though he defined his style of music as Alte, the singer said he’s not limited to a particular genre as he’s learning to be dynamic as well.
Asked about what inspired the EP, he said: “Aside from God and my producer, my emotions, I’ll say. I feel better expressing myself through music, and this album is a relief/therapy for me, letting out these built-up emotions into different flavours of sounds and making them into a whole story; A musical story.
This year will make it 15 years since I’ve been doing music. I started with singing in my closet, but I took it seriously around 2018.”
On the artiste that inspires him in the industry, Kryptoboi said: “I have a number of them inspiring me. I admire good music and the push behind them, so I’ll say every artiste doing good music, well, and doing numbers inspires me a lot.
“Besides, I’ve always admired some artistes because of the way their art speaks to me, the likes of Chris Brown, Davido, Wizkid, Burna boy, Oxlade, Joeboy and Fola. I want my art to speak to people as well. So, these people are a source of inspiration for me.”
Commenting on his creative process, the singer said: “I pray for ideas before composing any song, and sometimes God gives me even before I ask. I compose and sing songs according to how I feel. If I’m happy, I’m blessed with happy songs; if I’m sad, I’m blessed with sad songs, and if I’m in between I’m blessed with songs that translates that emotion.
My life choices and experiences also influence my music.”
