Lagos played host to a new premium lifestyle experience as the maiden edition of the Diaspora Ball held at EbonyLife Place, Victoria Island, attracting celebrities, business leaders, creatives and socialites.

Hosted by Nigerian-American entrepreneur and healthcare IT consultant Ayobami Magbagbeola, popularly known as Ayo Entity, the event was designed to redefine the traditional Detty December culture by blending luxury entertainment with purposeful networking and cultural exchange.

Speaking at the event, Ayo Entity described the Diaspora Ball as a platform created to unite culture, ambition and opportunity in a refined setting. He explained that the initiative was born out of a desire to move beyond partying towards experiences that inspire collaboration and long-term impact.

The evening featured live music performances, comedy, fashion showcases and curated networking sessions, alongside sets by top DJs, including UK-based DJ Sierra, Lagos-based DJ FunkyBee and U.S.-based DJ Kobe. Guests were welcomed with live violin performances by Violinist Joe, setting a tone of elegance and exclusivity.

One of the highlights of the night was the “Unlock the Mystery Box” activation, an interactive raffle open to all attendees. The initiative ended on a memorable note when an usher emerged as one of the winners, drawing applause and reinforcing the organisers’ emphasis on inclusivity.

Fashion excellence was also recognised, with the Best Dressed Male and Female each receiving ₦500,000, while the Global Impact Awards honoured two individuals for outstanding contributions in their respective fields.

Entertainment for the night was anchored by MC Edo Pikin, whose energetic performance lived up to expectations, given his multiple awards as Stand-Up Comedian of the Year.

According to the organisers, Lagos was deliberately chosen for the debut due to the city’s status as a cultural and creative hub in Africa. Plans are already underway to make the Diaspora Ball an annual event, with future regional and international editions in view.

The organisers expressed appreciation to sponsors and partners including Heritage Clothings (UK), Livery Lane Black Car Service, QuickLeen Dry Cleaners, Highflyers Event, OnlyFaruk, DJ Kobe and Mae Otti, among others, for their support.

With its successful debut, the Diaspora Ball has positioned itself as a premium addition to Lagos’ social and cultural calendar.
