Media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu marked 10 years of marriage to his wife, Cynthia, with a romantic gesture during a trip to Rome, Italy.

The television host shared photos on Instagram on Saturday, including a moment where he went down on one knee in what appeared to be a surprise re-proposal.

Captioning the post, he wrote, “Exactly 10 years married on Feb. 6, and we spent the most amazing day in Rome and Vatican City.

“Someone got a surprise re-proposal on holy grounds, we attended mass at St. Peter’s Basilica and got a 10th anniversary certificate from the Pope; and then ended the day with the best dinner at our favourite restaurant.”

“Now, it’s vacation time,” he added.

Ebuka has previously spoken about how certain he was about marrying Cynthia early in their relationship.

In a 2024 appearance on the podcast Menisms, he revealed that he knew she was the one just one month after they began dating.

“She was in HR and from a quiet world. I was working at Ebony Life and the studio was in Calabar so I used to go there two times a month for six days each. At the time our relationship had just started so she didn’t get it initially. So it took a lot of explaining for her to understand. The interesting thing is a month into our relationship I knew we were going to get married. I don’t know what it was, but I think a lot of it was the conversations we were having,” he said.

He also shared how their relationship started.

“I knew her 3 years before we became a thing and we were both in relationships. I was friends with her brother and we followed each other on Twitter. Then on Jan 1st 2014, I sent a ‘Happy New Year’ message. At this time I had been single for almost 2 years and she responded, and that’s how we started,” he said.

Their journey to marriage became public in 2015 when they held a star-studded traditional wedding. Their white wedding followed on February 6, 2016, in Abuja, an event that drew widespread attention and was tagged Obi2016.

The ceremony was attended by several celebrities, including Banky W, Mai Atafo, OC Ukeje, Noble Igwe, Zainab Balogun, Bolanle Olukanni, Toke Makinwa and Gbemi O.O, among others.

The couple later welcomed two daughters, Jeweluchi and Irubinachi.
