PENGASSAN denies accusing IOC of abusing workers

NMDPRA members sue PENGASSAN over suspension

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has denied a newspaper publication alleging that the association accused TotalEnergies Nigeria Limited of persistent maltreatment of Nigerian employees.

A statement by PENGASSAN Acting General Secretary, Jerry Amah, denied issuing any statement on the issue, alleging that the publication referenced an internal document between staff and their management without authorisation, thereby constituting a breach of privacy and confidentiality, which the association strongly condemned.

While denying harassment by expatriates, flagrant violations of the Nigerian Local Content Act, and racism, among other claims, Amah said the association respects the rights of individuals and groups to raise concerns of national interest.

He cautioned against misusing PENGASSAN’s name to lend weight to unverified allegations.

He stated that such actions have the potential of creating unnecessary workplace tension and damaging the reputation of both the association and the industry.

He said PENGASSAN remained committed to dialogue and constructive engagement with all stakeholders in the oil and gas industry.

“Our mandate is to protect the welfare and professional interests of our members while ensuring industrial harmony. We will not condone sensationalism or unverified claims that may undermine the stability of the sector.
