IT is not every time that you get to read a suspenseful novel that marries science and fiction. Part detective thriller and part scholarly critique, the story follows Dr Philip Taiwo as he uncovers a global conspiracy that reduces human lives to “Legacy Errors.”
The book, ‘The Silk Tether’, is an international financial thriller that explores the dark intersection of technology, corruption, and the unyielding friction of the human spirit. It tells the story of the “Human Friction” needed to stop a machine that has lost sight of the “Human Condition.
Through the 76-page novel, with 18 chapters, a prologue and epilogue, the author reveals truthful issues that make the soul quake. But first his choice of words are what the reader must confront. They are hard and harsh realities. However, with the special titles, he decodes the movement in time that will simplify the narrative.
Attempting to audit the “Sovereign Shadow” without proper”Administrative Permission” may result in “Systemic Silence” or permanent “Digital Erasure” such statements for Dr Philip Taiwo, and“Philip remembered the “Connected Silence” of the Abuja Ministry of Works, where he first saw his face staring back from the file of a dead man. He had theorised about the “Architecture of the Void” in his PhD research, but living within it was different. It was the sensation of being erased while still drawing breath” are conversations that make the reader ponder on what he is reading.
The book is a detailed construction of the Nigerian society with Taiwo, a researcher of ‘Administrative Violence,’ and his daughter, Kemi, a survivor of ‘Digital Erasure,’ as eyes of the camera seeking to understand the complex world of corruption.
The writer chooses suspenseful dialogue to examine the shift from physical corruption to the “Architecture of Control”—a world where elites use algorithms to create a “Systemic Silence,” allowing billions to vanish into the “Sovereign Shadow.”
The novel is a truly uplifting and thoughtful and it reminds the reader reason the country is what it is. This is a well written and interesting book. The main characters are people you warm up to and empathise in their struggle and search for the truth.
While the author’s academic theories on Administrative Violence and Institutional Strengthening are based on real-world research and data, the characters, locations, and specific events depicted in this book are products of the author’s imagination or are used fictitiously. He is so comfortable in his attempt to use words such as “Logic Bombs” and “Sovereign Audit” protocols described herein are for narrative purposes only.
