The Managing Director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Oluwaṣeun Faleye, has inaugurated the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the International Social Security Services Association (ISSSA) West Africa Technical Seminar 2026.
The inauguration, held at the NSITF Board Room in Abuja, signals the formal commencement of preparations for the high-level seminar expected to bring together social security experts and institutions from across West Africa and beyond.
Faleye described the seminar as strategically important to Nigeria and the sub-region, noting that it aligns with ongoing efforts to strengthen social security systems amid rising economic pressures and widening vulnerability in the region.
With the theme, ‘improving Inclusiveness and Accessibility of Social Security Services through Effective Communication in West Africa’, the NSITF boss said the gathering would focus on bridging gaps in access to social protection through digitalisation, innovative communication strategies and the deployment of digital and mobile technologies.
According to him, social security institutions must move beyond policy and administration to ensure that their services are clearly understood, accessible and responsive, particularly to underserved and vulnerable populations.
He said the forum would deepen regional collaboration, promote peer learning and facilitate the exchange of best practices in social security administration, while generating practical recommendations for expanding coverage in the sub-region.
Faleye added that hosting the seminar would enhance Nigeria’s engagement with regional and international partners and provide an opportunity to showcase the country’s commitment to advancing social security development.
The ISSSA West Africa Technical Seminar 2026 is scheduled to be held on April 25 in Abuja.
