Operatives of the Katsina State Police Command have foiled a bandit attack on Gidan Soda village in Dandume Local Council, killing two of the assailants.

The attack occurred on February 17, 2025, at about 12:45 a.m., according to the police. The gunmen were said to have stormed the village, shooting sporadically and fatally wounding a 30-year-old woman, Hassana Muhammad, before security operatives arrived.

The Divisional Police Officer mobilised officers in collaboration with the military and members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps to the scene.

Police said the joint team engaged the attackers in a gun duel, forcing them to flee due to superior firepower. Two suspected bandits were neutralised during the operation, while a Boxer motorcycle was recovered at the scene.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects and that investigation had commenced.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the command’s commitment, in synergy with other security agencies, to ensuring safety across the state.
