Igbo man elected APC secretary in Gombe

An Igbo man from Anambra State, Edwin Chukwu Jeku, has been elected as the Assistant Secretary of Bolari East Ward of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State.

Jeku, a non-indigene of the state, expressed his happiness with the development, saying it reflects the party’s nationality.

He said his election was an inspiration to non-indigents in the state APC, that the party does not discriminate against all its members.

“I feel happy being among the party leaders at the grassroots. My election reflects the party’s nationality. I advise my other Igbos to try to play along at the party. We are not excluded from the party. We are fully accommodated,” he stated.
Jeku thanked the state governor, Inuwa Yahaya, for appointing an Igbo man as Special Assistant on Inter-Community Affairs, saying it shows his administration’s and party’s commitment to inclusivity.

He appealed for consideration of more Igbos and other non-indigene residents in the state who are active in politics in political appointments.

In his remarks, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress ward and local government congress committee in the state, Dr Danjuma Dabo, said he approved the consensus and the affirmation of the ward executives in Gombe, and lauded the smooth conduct of the poll.

“We have come, seen and witnessed the process. We are supposed to witness the process, and I can confirm that as a committee, we are satisfied with the process ongoing. It has been done the way it should be done.”

Dabo, while hailing the process, added, “It has been done with all the appropriate regulations.

“We therefore confirm that the ward congresses are done in accordance with laid down procedures. For the consensus, all those who affirmed also agree that we have witnessed their affirmation.”
