The Dutse International Airport is set to enter the cargo business following approval from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) for the installation of cargo facilities, Governor Namadi announced on Sunday during an inspection and calibration exercise by a technical team from the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA).

While interacting with the NAMA team, Governor Namadi stressed the importance of maintaining aviation best practices. “Today is an important day for us in ensuring that all airport facilities in Jigawa State operate according to the highest standards,” he said, commending airport management for their proactive approach to safety through the calibration process.

Confirming the FAAN approval, the governor said, “We have been in discussions with FAAN, and they have granted us the green light to begin installing cargo facilities at the airport in preparation for the full launch of cargo operations.”

Expressing confidence in the airport’s standards, Governor Namadi added, “Today, we can proudly say this is one of the best airports in Nigeria. We will continue to uphold this standard and ensure all necessary facilities are operational and fully compliant.”

Earlier, the NAMA team leader explained that the purpose of their visit was “specifically to check navigational aids and ensure compliance with International Civil Aviation Organization standards.” Following ground inspections, the team will assess equipment performance to certify optimal operations.
