The Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT) has called on Nigerians to embrace moral responsibility, reject criminality and uphold the sanctity of human life.

It stated this during its yearly Ramadan lecture and Mega Asalatu themed: “Whoever saves a life, saves humanity,” which held at the Society’s headquarters in Aseese, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.

Former Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Abdulhakeem Abdulafeef, delivered the lecture as the guest speaker, while Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NSIA Insurance, Moroof Apanpa, served as co-chairman of the event.

Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Dr Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen, represented the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat.

In his welcome address, NASFAT President, Abdulrauf Abdulwahid Ayodeji, urged Muslims to reflect the values of compassion, unity and accountability that define the Holy month.

He also warned against bribery and complicity, stressing that citizens must not shield or defend individuals who undermine peace and social stability.

Head of Department, Arts Education, University of Lagos, Luqman Adedeji, said Islam recognises human diversity as part of Allah’s intentional creation, noting that differences in race, language, culture and tribe are not meant to create division but to encourage cooperation and understanding.

Relatedly, Hamzat, yesterday, urged parents to prioritise their children’s welfare, saying that the majority of hoodlums roaming the streets are a consequence of parents’ failure to properly guide them in the early stages of their lives.

He spoke during the 2026 yearly zonal Ramadan lecture organised by the Nawair-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Lagos Zone.
