Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has approved the immediate award of scholarships to no fewer than 148 indigent students to study law at the Nigerian Law School (NILS), Lagos.
According to him, the law school scholarships are for the 2026/2027 academic session.
Buni, represented by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Science and Technology (HEST), Prof. Bello Kawuwa, disclosed on Monday in Damaturu that the scholarship approval was made during a joint meeting of the Yobe State Scholarships Board (YOSB) and HEST, while disbursing the scholarship payments to the 148 selected students from the 17 Local Government Councils of the state.
Beyond the awards of dozens of scholarships to the students, Kawuwa added: “The Buni administration would continue to accord priority to education service delivery by supporting every student of the state, while pursuing their studies in the various institutions of higher learning in the country.
The commissioner urged the students to take their studies at the law school seriously, as this will justify the investments in education, science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
