APC to win all elections in 2027 – Zulum

Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has stated that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will win all the elections in the state and across Nigeria in 2027.

According to him, APC has remained the “workhorse” of Nigerian politics and is strategically well-positioned to win all the elections in the coming general election.

Zulum made the declarations on Tuesday in Maiduguri, while addressing thousands of APC state delegates and stakeholders during the state’s congress elections.

The governor further revealed: “Today’s elections have shown that the state operates a unified political system within our party hierarchy,” stating that APC has no divisions among its numerous members in the state.

“This ushered in a new set of APC executive members in a peaceful and transparent manner at the state and council levels.”

A total of 1,560 delegates attended the event held at the defunct Kashim Ibrahim College of Education (KICE), Maiduguri.

The 2026 congress, chaired by Mr. Jones Erue, selected 38 executive committee members by consensus, who will oversee the party’s affairs for the next four years.

Erue stated that the peaceful emergence of the State Executive members through consensus demonstrated party unity in the state, further confirming that Borno is one of the most united APC chapters in the country.

Zulum also acknowledged the support of Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, for establishing a strong political foundation for the party in the state.

The governor, therefore, congratulated the newly elected party executives and assured them of the support of the state government, stating that former party officials would remain relevant within the APC structure.

“All former party executives from the state to the ward level will not be left behind. They will be integrated into our party structure as ex-officio members and assigned other relevant party responsibilities because of their immense contributions,” added Zulum.

“We will not permit anyone without the required capacity to take over the affairs of the party. The party will remain resolute under my leadership and, Insha Allah, we shall succeed,” he emphasised.

The governor praised members of the Congress Committee for conducting a credible election and also commended party delegates for their loyalty and dedication.

APC Deputy National Chairman North, Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, stated that after proper consultation, the party stakeholders collectively agreed to adopt consensus in accordance with the guidelines of the APC constitution.

Responding on behalf of the new executives, the State Chairman, Hon. Bello Ayuba, expressed gratitude to Governor Babagana Zulum for the strategic guidance and pledge to steer the affairs of the party in an accountable and transparent manner.

The congress was attended by former Governor Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff; Senate Chief Whip, Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno; Mohammed; and Senators Ali Ndume and Kaka Shehu Lawan (SAN). Also present were former Deputy Governors, six members of the House of Representatives, members of the state assembly, commissioners, APC officials, other stakeholders, as well as officials from the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who supervised the APC congress elections.
