Ramadan: Kano govt distributes Aliko Dangote’s food palliatives to vulnerable residents

Hundreds of vulnerable people including streets beggar and less privileged on Saturday received several bags of rice from the benevolent of Aliko Dangote Foundation to ease the economy hardship.

The foundation’s annual provision of the food items essentially meant to help the poor augment their feeding ability during the fasting period of Ramadan.

Coordinating the distribution of the 10kg bags of rice, Kano state government delegation under the leadership of Secretary to The State Government SSG, Alh. Umar Faruq Ibrahim led other key state and non-state actors to major streets and roads to hand over the palliative to those in needs.

The well coordinated exercise which was carried out under the watchful presence of the journalists and heavily security guide to maintain orderliness covered communities under Gwale, Nassarawa, Fagge and Municipal local government areas of the state.

Some of the beneficiaries of the palliatives including some who were forced to descend from commercial buses and popular tricycles (Adaidata) were overwhelmed with joy while appreciative of the kind gesture.

Few of those who spoke with journalists commended the Kano state government for ensuring well coordinated distribution that get directly to the vulnerable people away from the previous tradition where the items been handled by the politicians.

Addressing journalists during the distribution, Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Danjuma Mamoud, assured that the poorest of the poor and vulnerable people in the state will surely receive the palliatives.

Dr. Mamoud stated that the distribution commenced immediately after the flagging off at Government House, adding that the palliatives were carefully distributed to the vulnerable people across the state.
