IPAC re-elects Effiom Okon as Cross River chairman

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC)

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Cross River State chapter, has re-elected the state chairman of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Effiom Edet Okon, for a second term as chairman of the council.

Okon was returned unopposed during the council’s state election held in Calabar on Saturday under the supervision of the national leadership of IPAC and in collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In the election, Okon secured 13 votes, in what officials described as part of the council’s statutory process aimed at strengthening inter-party collaboration and democratic governance in the state.
Speaking after the exercise, the National Chairman of IPAC, Yusuf Maman Dantalle, congratulated the newly elected chairman and urged him to be magnanimous in victory by reaching out to other contestants in order to promote unity within the council.

Dantalle emphasised that IPAC should be seen as a family rather than an opposition platform and advised the leadership to remain tolerant and inclusive while working with all political parties, particularly as the state prepares for future electoral activities.
In his acceptance speech, Okon thanked members of the council and representatives of political parties in the state for the confidence reposed in him, promising to deepen democratic engagement and sustain inclusive collaboration among political parties.

He also expressed appreciation to the Cross River State Government, particularly Bassey Otu and the Chief of Staff, Emmanuel Ironbar, for supporting cooperation between the government and IPAC in promoting good governance in the state.
Other members elected into the executive of the council include Phoebe Inyang as Vice Chairman, Asim Effiong Bassey as Deputy Secretary, Ojisi Michael Ntue as Treasurer, Edet Effiom Ebiefie as Organising Secretary, Patrick Osam Agbor as Financial Secretary, James Okon Otudor as Publicity Secretary, and Anthony Ogbonike Odey as Legal Adviser.
