Appeal Court Judgment: Natasha Urges PDP Leaders to Close Ranks Ahead of 2027

Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has called on leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to embrace reconciliation and unity following the recent Court of Appeal judgment concerning the party’s national convention.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the senator said the ruling presents an opportunity for the party to move beyond internal disputes and focus on rebuilding its structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

She stressed that continued litigation and internal disagreements could weaken the party’s ability to provide a strong political platform for members aspiring to elective offices across the country.

According to Akpoti-Uduaghan, the PDP must now redirect its energy toward strengthening internal democracy, restoring trust among members, and positioning itself as a credible alternative for Nigerians.

“The Court of Appeal has spoken, and as a party that believes in the rule of law, it is time for us to turn the page on litigation and focus on reconciliation and rebuilding,” she said.

The lawmaker warned that prolonged disputes among party leaders risk undermining the hopes of grassroots members who are preparing to contest elections under the PDP platform.

“Our members across the country—those aspiring to serve in State Houses of Assembly, the House of Representatives, the Senate, governorship positions and even the presidency—must not become victims of prolonged disagreements among leaders,” she said.

She therefore urged party stakeholders to demonstrate maturity and statesmanship by putting aside personal interests in favour of the collective future of the party.

Akpoti-Uduaghan also emphasized the need for the party to organise an inclusive and transparent national convention that complies with the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to her, such a process would help restore confidence within the party and strengthen its democratic credentials.

“Nigerians are watching, and this is the moment for the PDP to show that it remains united, inclusive and capable of providing leadership for the country,” she added.

The senator reaffirmed her commitment to the unity and progress of the party and encouraged members nationwide to remain hopeful and actively participate in efforts to rebuild and reposition the PDP ahead of the 2027 elections.
