Businessman and emerging political figure Afeez Olalekan Awojobi has declared his intention to contest for a seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly, representing Ward 1 in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area ahead of the 2027 Nigerian general elections.

Awojobi said he plans to seek the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging to provide what he described as more responsive representation for residents of the constituency.

According to Awojobi, his decision to join the race followed encouragement from community leaders, supporters and other stakeholders within the constituency.

He said many residents have expressed the desire for leadership that would focus more closely on local development priorities and ensure stronger advocacy for the interests of the people at the state legislature.

“I am stepping forward because I believe our constituency deserves renewed hope and a stronger voice in the Ogun State House of Assembly,” he said.

Outlining his priorities, Awojobi said his proposed legislative agenda would centre on youth empowerment, infrastructure improvement and broader community development initiatives.

He emphasised the need for policies and projects that deliver tangible benefits at the grassroots level, adding that representation should translate into practical improvements in people’s everyday lives.

With the 2027 elections still some distance away, Awojobi’s declaration has begun to attract attention within political circles in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.

Some residents, including youths and community elders, have expressed support for his aspiration, describing him as a candidate with a vision for development within the constituency.
