Jesus frees people from all these burdens. The rest that Jesus promises is love, healing, and peace with God, not the end of all labour. A relationship with God changes meaningless, wearisome toil into spiritual productivity and purpose.
“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need,” (Heb 4:16)
“Come boldly to the throne of grace.” Because Christ sympathises with our weaknesses (v.15), we can confidently approach the heavenly throne, knowing that our prayers and petitions are welcomed and desired by our heavenly Father (cf.10:19-20). It is called the “throne of grace” because from it flows God’s love, help, mercy, forgiveness, wisdom, spiritual power, spiritual gifts, the fruit of the Holy Spirit, and all that we need in any circumstances. One of the great blessings of salvation is that Christ is now our high priest, our mediator, who opens the way for us to come to the Father with confidence for all areas of need in our lives.
We Have The Mind Of Christ(5.3)
“For ‘who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?’ But we have the mind of Christ,” (1Cor 2:16). To “have the mind of Christ” means knowing His will and His redemptive plan and purpose (vv.9-10). It means appraising and seeing things the way God sees them, valuing things the way He values them, loving what He loves and hating what he hates (v.15; Heb 1:9). It means understanding the holiness of God and the awfulness of sin. Thus, receiving the spirit and following the spirit (v.12) cause the believer’s values and worldview to become radically different from the ways and wisdom of this age (cf.Phil. 2:5-8).
(1Cor 2:15,16) No one can comprehend God (Romans 11:34), but through the guidance of the holy Spirit, believers have insight into some of God’s plans, thoughts, and actions—they, in fact, have the “mind of Christ.” Through the holy Spirit we can begin to know God’s thoughts, talk with him, and expect his answers to our prayers. Are you spending enough time with Christ to have his very mind in you? An intimate relationship with Christ comes only from spending time consistently in his presence and in his word. Read Philippians 2:5ff for more on the mind of Christ.
Imitating Christ’s Humility (Phil 2:1-11)
“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4:Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others,” (Phil 2:3-5).
(2:1-5) Many people—even Christians—live only to make a good impression on others or to please themselves. But “selfish ambition or conceit” brings discord.
