The Borno State Police Command has commenced a comprehensive review of the security situations in the border communities and other identified black spots across the state.

According to the Command, the strategic security meeting, comprising tactical commanders, was to enhance security vigilance in the identified black spots that threaten people’s lives and property.

Police Public Relations officer (PPRO), Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nahum Daso, in a statement in Maiduguri, stated: “The Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, on February 13, 2026, convened a strategic security meeting with tactical commanders, area commanders, and 27 Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) across the state,” adding that the one-day meeting is to review the prevailing security situation in the border communities and other identified black spots in the state.

Abdulmajid, while addressing the tactical commanding officers, charged them to maintain heightened operational vigilance, professionalism, and sustained alertness in their respective areas of responsibility.

He emphasised the need for proactive policing, enhanced intelligence gathering, and effective deployment of personnel to forestall any threat to public safety.

The CP further directed the reinforcement of police formations, particularly the ones located in remote communities and local councils with additional logistics and operational resources to strengthen their capacity in safeguarding people’s lives and property.

However, as part of efforts to boost public confidence and deter criminal elements, the Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, will commence joint show-of-force operations to achieve what he described as “enhanced visibility policing across strategic locations within the state.”

While reassuring residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to protection of lives and property, the CP urged members of the public to remain calm, vigilant, and law abiding.

He also warned against the spread of unverified information capable of creating unnecessary panic or tension in the state.
