The Federal Government has closed down three factories in Ogijo, Ogun State, due to safety infractions that pose health risk to workers and residents in host communities.
The move aims to enforce compliance with safety standards and protect community members and their surroundings from the danger of safety violations by the three companies.
Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka OnyejeocOnyejeocha explained that the companies received official notices on December 9, 2025, regarding multiple violations, such as failing to conduct hazard training, not providing workers with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and not responding or making corrections.
ha, issued the directive during an Occupational Safety and Health inspection of the industrial area.
The affected firms are African Refractory and Allied Products, African Non-Ferrous Industries Ltd and Metalworld Recycling Ltd.
They were found guilty of persistently disobeying safety standards.
“The factories failed to comply with directives. There was no response to the notice and no effort made to address the identified risks,” the minister said.
The minister also mentioned that the safety issues had resulted in deaths and some incidents were not even reported, emphasising that the
Federal Government would not take lightly negligence of safety.
