At Sallah, Yilwatda, Sule preach unity, sacrifice, compassion

All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has described Ramadan as not merely a period of abstinence, but a sacred journey of the soul — a time of deep reflection, sacrifice, discipline, compassion, and renewed devotion to Almighty Allah.

In a Sallah message yesterday, he said: “Over the past month, millions of faithful have demonstrated unwavering commitment to the values of faith, patience, and selflessness. These virtues are not only essential to our spiritual growth but are also foundational to nation-building.

“As we celebrate Eid, we must carry forward the lessons of Ramadan into our daily lives, embracing unity, extending kindness to one another, and upholding justice and fairness in all our dealings.

“At a time when our nation continues to navigate complex challenges, the spirit of sacrifice and collective responsibility that Ramadan instils in us remains more relevant than ever.

“I particularly commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his steadfast leadership and resilience in steering the affairs of our great nation.

“His administration continues to take bold and necessary steps aimed at repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth, economic stability, and national cohesion.”

He added that leadership, especially in times of transformation, requires courage and vision, stating: “I urge all Nigerians to continue to support the President in his quest to build a stronger and more prosperous country.

“Let us use this auspicious occasion to offer sincere prayers for our nation.”

ON his part, Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, enjoined Muslims to remain obedient to the teachings of the Almighty Allah, urging the citizens to unite for the continued development of the state.

Sule, who made the call in a statement in Lafia, described Ramadan as a sacred period of spiritual renewal, discipline, and devotion, emphasising that fasting remains one of the five pillars of Islam as ordained in the Holy Qur’an.

While extending his felicitations to Muslims in Nasarawa, Nigeria, and across the world on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-el-Fitr celebration, the governor noted that the 30-day fast provided an opportunity for Muslims to deepen their faith through prayers, recitation of the Qur’an, acts of charity, and the promotion of moral virtues such as humility, empathy, and self-control.

Sule urged the faithful to sustain the lessons learned during Ramadan by continuing acts of kindness, good neighbourliness, and generosity in their daily lives for the overall development of society.
