‘I’ll still be rich without football’- Victor Osimhen

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has expressed strong confidence in his ability to succeed financially outside football, attributing his mindset to years of hardship and relentless hustle.

The 27-year-old forward, who currently plays for Galatasaray, made the remarks while reflecting on his journey from a difficult upbringing to becoming one of Nigeria’s most celebrated footballers.

At the moment, Osimhen is in Nigeria receiving treatment after suffering a fractured right forearm during his club’s 4-0 loss to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash at Anfield.

The injury occurred early in the encounter following a collision with Ibrahima Konaté. Despite the impact, the Super Eagles striker continued playing through the first half before medical checks later confirmed the fracture.

Built From Hustle and Hardship

Speaking during a livestream session with Carter Efe, Osimhen opened up about the resilience that has defined his life and career.

“I get that belief in myself, even when I was in the trenches when it was tough—the way we had to hustle,” he said.

“There’s no legit work you’ll call me for that you won’t meet me there at five in the morning, or four, or three, wake me up, I go hustle.

Even if not through football, I will have money like mad. That’s the way I believe in myself.”

His comments reflect a strong work ethic that has not only driven his football success but also shaped his outlook on life beyond the sport.

Strong Emotional Bond with Galatasaray

Osimhen also spoke about his deep connection with Galatasaray, describing the club as a defining chapter in his professional journey.

“Gala is more than a club for me. We were meant to cross paths,” he said.

“When you enter that club, you see how they treat players, how they give everything for the badge. From other experiences, you see players deprived of real love.”

The Nigerian international emphasised that the relationship goes beyond football, extending to his personal life and family.

“Even my daughter, she’s more inclined to that club than me,” he said.

Injury Setback Amid Key European Clash

Osimhen’s injury came at a crucial stage of the UEFA Champions League, raising concerns among fans and analysts about his recovery timeline and impact on both club and country.

The forward has been a key figure for Galatasaray this season, and his absence could influence their campaign as they navigate both domestic and European competitions.
