A support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG), has commenced mobilisation drive across Ondo State towards securing support from women voters for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.
The group disclosed that the mobilisation efforts will be taken to the 203 wards, 18 local councils and the three senatorial districts of the state.
While addressing various women leaders in the state at the AMG secretariat in Akure, the state capital, Yetunde Adeyanju, the State Women Coordinator for the AMG, highlighted several infrastructure and economic projects by President Bola Tinubu’s administration as the foundation of their appeal.
Adeyanju, who harped on the details of the operation during the gathering, stressed that the meeting was the starting point for an extensive grassroots sensitisation ahead of the election.
She said, “Our goal is to mobilise women in Ondo State for the re-election of our President. We met with coordinators from all 203 wards in Ondo State to raise awareness. Soon, we will visit each local government to speak with them.
“Our mission is to reach out to women across all local governments. This is our structure, and we have deputies as well. Our task is to ensure that 95 percent of women in Ondo State vote for Tinubu. We are going out now to engage with our women, to unite them, and to inform them about what the president is doing for us.”
A leader within the group, Erelu Olalomi Ajirogun, stated that the group has already identified members across the 18 local governments and 203 wards who are committed to moving the mission forward.
“We are here today to support President Bola Tinubu for 2027. We gathered last year for the Asiwaju Mandate Group to encourage efforts for the president’s reelection in 2027,” Ajirogun stated. “We have women leaders in all 18 local governments; we have representatives in all 203 wards, and we know who will work with us.”
On his part, Muyiwa Asagunla, the Director-General of the Asiwaju Mandate Group, who emphasised the importance of women in the electoral process, stated that the meeting was part of a larger effort to build support ahead of the party’s primaries.
Asagunla, who commended the women’s wing for its organisation across the senatorial districts, argued that women form a strong political force because they are involved in religious institutions, markets, and households, stressing that it positions them as key influencers who can sway family voting choices.
“Today, the stakeholders of our women’s wing are meeting to prepare for the upcoming primary election. They are doing a great job and have begun mobilising in all the senatorial districts.
“We must encourage them to continue their efforts. They have the ability to help Asiwaju Bola Tinubu achieve the target votes in Ondo State. Women are present in churches, mosques, markets, and everywhere; they can influence their husbands’ decisions.”
