The Jari Group has debunked claims by OBO Movement that the Senate seat for Cross River North Senatorial District is reserved for Obudu, Bekwarra, and Obanliku Federal Constituency.
In a detailed release signed by Mr. Raymond Ekpo, Head of Media Team, Jari Group, led by Senator Jarigbe, described the claim as a false narrative, aimed at misinforming the general public.
”Our attention has been drawn to a recent publication by a group identifying itself as the “OBO Movement,” which has claimed that the Senate seat for Cross River North Senatorial District is reserved for Obudu, Bekwarra, and Obanliku Federal Constituency.
”For clarity, this is not a zoning issue supported by historical precedent or broad consensus. Zoning arrangements, where they exist, are based on mutual agreement, equity, and history—not on the preferences of a few individuals. Any attempt to impose a zonal restriction without agreement disregards the constitutional rights of all aspirants to contest for the senatorial seat, including Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended, and the Electoral Act, 2026, as amended.

”Hon. Legor Idagbo has previously served in various political capacities, including as Chairman of Bekwarra LGA, Commissioner for Works, and Member of the House of Representatives. In the 2023 general elections, he did not secure the majority of votes in Bekwarra Local Government Area. Senator Ben Ayade, who also previously held political office, lost the Senate election in several wards to Senator Jarigbe. These outcomes reflect the choices of the electorate.
”The suggestion that Senator Jarigbe’s position as a candidate is tied to financial inducements is unsubstantiated. Allegations of this nature should be treated with caution, as public discourse benefits from accuracy and evidence. Any misleading claims may misinform the public and distract from meaningful engagement with the democratic process.
”Senator Jarigbe recently joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) and is actively engaging party structures, stakeholders, and constituents. He remains focused on mobilising support and delivering on his mandate. Meanwhile, political discussions and campaigns should prioritize dialogue with voters rather than relying on claims or external influences.
”We encourage all political actors to engage constructively, allow the electorate to make informed decisions, and respect the democratic process. Senator Jarigbe is committed to serving the people of Cross River North and remains focused on advancing policies and initiatives that benefit his constituents.
”The public is advised to critically evaluate claims made by any group and focus on verified information. Political discourse should promote transparency, accountability, and meaningful participation.
