As part of activities marking International Women’s Day, Descasio has brought together top female executives for an exclusive leadership brunch in Lagos, culminating in the launch of its “Give to Gain” Leadership Insights Report.
The gathering, inspired by the 2026 International Women’s Day theme, created a platform for accomplished women across industries to engage in candid conversations on leadership, collaboration, and long-term organisational growth. Participants were drawn from leading firms including Honeywell Group Limited, Finchglow Travels, NGCOM, and Eroton Exploration & Production Company.
The session commenced with a welcome address by the Chief Executive Officer of Descasio, Dele Nedd, who acknowledged the presence of the participants before stepping back to allow for a peer-led exchange. The approach, according to observers, underscored the organisation’s commitment to inclusive leadership and empowering women to drive conversations that shape business and society.
Departing from conventional panel formats, the event was structured as an open dialogue, enabling participants to share practical insights from their leadership journeys. Discussions focused on critical themes such as execution, accountability, continuous learning, empathy, and authenticity.
During the session, Josephine Adebola highlighted the importance of consistency in leadership, stressing that effective execution remains central to building credibility within organisations.
“Get it done on time and in full,” she stated, emphasising the discipline required to translate strategy into measurable outcomes.
Also speaking, Tomi Otudeko noted that curiosity and continuous learning are essential traits for leaders navigating rapidly evolving industries. She added that empathy plays a critical role in effective leadership, enabling leaders to better understand and manage diverse teams.
Similarly, Helen James-Eziashi encouraged leaders to remain authentic while adapting to changing professional demands, while Ifeanyi Onyejekwe underscored the importance of self-awareness in sustaining leadership effectiveness.
Speaking on the significance of the initiative, Umama David-Ogebe said the event was designed to foster meaningful engagement and knowledge-sharing among leaders.
According to her, “the objective goes beyond celebrating International Women’s Day to creating an environment where leaders can exchange ideas and build partnerships that strengthen organisations.”
To further extend the impact of the discussions, Descasio announced the release of “The Give to Gain Leadership Report: Insights from Women Leading Enterprise Organizations,” a publication that captures key perspectives shared at the event.
The report outlines major leadership themes, including the value of continuous learning, the role of empathy and accountability in team development, the importance of authenticity, and the need to invest in people as a foundation for resilient organisations.
Descasio noted that the report is now available for public access, providing a resource for organisations seeking to deepen leadership capacity and drive sustainable growth through people-centred strategies
