Police strengthens community engagement drive in Adamawa

The Nigeria Police Force in Adamawa State has called on its personnel to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and commitment as part of activities marking the 2026 National Police Day celebration.

Speaking on Tuesday in Yola, the the state capital, the Commissioner of Police, Kabir Umar Hassan, urged officers and men of the command to demonstrate diligence and embrace exemplary policing in the discharge of their duties.

The celebration, themed “Together We Walk, Together We Secure,” as noticed by The Guardian, featured a symbolic Police Day Walkathon as officers marched peacefully through major streets of Yola, promoting unity, discipline, and stronger ties between the police and the public.

Addressing personnel after the walk, Hassan commended officers for their resilience and unwavering commitment to duty.

He noted that their conduct reflects a readiness to confront prevailing security challenges across the state, stressing the importance of leading by example to inspire public confidence and attract future recruits into the force.

He further reminded officers that their core mandate remains the protection of lives and property, urging them to remain focused, disciplined, and service-oriented at all times.

The week-long celebration was observed to have commenced with a sanitation exercise led by the commissioner, during which officers participated in cleaning parts of the Yola metropolis.

The command also undertaken community outreach initiatives, including visits to the sick and vulnerable, reinforcing its commitment to public service beyond traditional policing roles.

Activities marking the 2026 National Police Day, according to the commissioner, are expected to continue throughout the week, with more programs aimed at strengthening community engagement and enhancing trust between the police and the citizens they serve.
