‎Firm spotlights women driving innovation at 2026 women’s month event

‎LG Electronics has reaffirmed its commitment to gender inclusion and women’s empowerment with its 2026 Women’s Month event, themed “Women Who Power Progress,” at its Lagos office.

The event convened accomplished women from diverse industries for an engaging panel session that examined their career journeys, defining moments, and the inspiration behind their success in traditionally male-dominated fields.
‎Panelists included award-winning filmmaker Biodun Stephen; mechanical engineer Adeola A. Adeleke; interior design leader Jennifer Chukwujekwe; and MEP engineer Moyosore Onabolu.

The discussion was moderated by actress and entrepreneur Blessing Obasi-Nze, who steered conversations around ambition, resilience, and purpose.

During the session, speakers shared personal stories of perseverance, highlighting the challenges they overcame and the values that shaped their professional growth. They also offered practical guidance to women navigating their careers, stressing the importance of continuous learning, self-belief, mentorship, and resilience.

A key highlight was the keynote delivered by Funmilade Akingbagbohun, the first female National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

Speaking on “Women Building, Fixing, Innovating, and Powering the Future of Technology,” she called for stronger support systems for women in STEM and leadership.

“Women are building, fixing, innovating, and powering the future of technology. As we mark International Women’s Day, my call to action is simple but urgent: rise, build, break barriers, and lift others along the way,” she said.

She urged organisations to foster inclusive environments and encouraged women to pursue excellence without underestimating their potential, while also acknowledging persistent challenges such as gender stereotypes, underrepresentation in leadership, and the pressures of balancing multiple roles.

Also speaking, the Managing Director of LG Electronics, Hyoung Sub Ji, emphasised the company’s belief in inclusion as a driver of innovation and growth.

“At LG Electronics, empowering women is not just a social responsibility; it is a catalyst for innovation, growth, and sustainable progress. Creating platforms where women’s voices are celebrated is essential to building a more inclusive future,” he said.

‎The event, held in a vibrant and interactive atmosphere, also provided a platform for networking, idea exchange, and celebration of women’s achievements.

‎Aligned with the broader International Women’s Day theme, “Give to Gain,” the initiative underscores LG Electronics’ position that investing in women strengthens organisations, communities, and society.

‎Through programmes like “Women Who Power Progress,” the company continues to champion diversity and inclusion, recognising women who are breaking barriers and shaping the future across industries
