The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 3 Headquarters, Yola, Akinwale Kunle Adeniran, has directed the immediate training of police constables on proper weapon handling.
The directive, issued yesterday, was conveyed to the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Operations, with instructions to organize and oversee the exercise.
According to the Zonal Command, the training commenced immediately and is part of ongoing efforts to enhance professionalism and operational efficiency within the Nigeria Police Force.
The initiative aligns with recent directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, mandating standardized and comprehensive training for all officers to improve service delivery and safety in the line of duty.
At the end of the programme, participating officers are expected to undergo practical sessions at a shooting range to reinforce their skills in firearm handling.
The Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Aminu Umar Bashir, confirmed the development in a statement issued on behalf of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
Police authorities say the training underscores their commitment to building a more competent and disciplined force capable of effectively addressing security challenges.
