Rotary pledges continued medical support to Lagos community

The Rotary Club of Lekki Phase 1 has reaffirmed its commitment to improving healthcare access in Ogombo community, Lagos, following a successful medical outreach programme.

The club, in collaboration with its partners, provided free medical services to residents, including general health checks, breast cancer screenings, and vaccinations.

President of Rotary Club of Lekki Phase 1, Comfort Anorue, emphasised the importance of preventive healthcare and announced the club’s plans to revamp the Gbara Health Post, provide potable water, and boost medical services and staffing in the community.

“We are committed to making healthcare services accessible to underserved residents in Ogombo,” Anorue said. “We acknowledge the healthcare challenges facing the community and pledge to continue our support.”

The outreach saw the distribution of 51 reading glasses, screening of 25 women for breast cancer, de-worming of 200 children, and administration of Measles and Rubella vaccinations. Insecticide-treated nets were also distributed to 150 households.

The club has called on government and individuals to join forces in addressing the community’s healthcare needs. “Together, we can make a lasting impact,” Anorue added.

The medical outreach is part of Rotary Club of Lekki Phase 1’s ongoing efforts to promote healthcare and improve the quality of life in underserved communities.
