Easter: Omobude urges Nigerians to promote peace, hold leaders accountable

Former President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Rev. Dr. Felix Omobude

Former National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Rev. Dr. Felix Ilaweagbon Omobude, has called on Nigerians to embrace peace, unity, and accountability as they celebrate Easter.

Omobude, who is also the General Superintendent of Gospel Light International Ministries (New Covenant Gospel Church), made the call while reflecting on the significance and lessons of Easter.
He urged citizens to promote respect for human life, honesty, love, and care—even towards strangers—while fostering mutual understanding across communities.

The cleric also challenged Nigerians to hold leaders accountable whenever they fail in their responsibilities, stressing the need for active civic engagement.
He further urged citizens to support security agencies by providing credible and timely information to help tackle insecurity.

Omobude specifically called on political leaders to practise the values they profess in their places of worship, especially those they pledged to uphold during their inauguration.
Highlighting the spiritual essence of Easter, he encouraged Nigerians to embrace forgiveness, extend olive branches, and show generosity to one another.

He added that the resurrection of Jesus Christ remains the cornerstone of Christian faith and a symbol of hope.
Omobude expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, urging citizens to remain steadfast in faith and unity.
He also called for greater unity within the Christian community, emphasising the need for harmony both with God and among people.

“No matter how dark the situation may seem, there is hope. God who raised Christ from the dead will also smile on Nigeria. Let us give peace a chance, forgive one another, and be generous to all,” he added.
“Easter reminds us that God is the God of peace. That is why He sent His Son to die for us, so that we can be reconciled to Him. Let us reflect and live in peace with one another,” he said.
