Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has congratulated the people on the occasion of this year’s Easter.
In a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, the governor said: “As we join Christians across our dear state, Nigeria, and the world to celebrate Easter, I extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt felicitations to all. Easter is a sacred season that reminds us of the ultimate sacrifice, love, and the triumph of hope over despair. It is a powerful message that no matter the trials we face, light will always prevail over darkness.”
He continued: “The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ teach us profound lessons in sacrifice, humility, forgiveness, and renewal. At a time when our state and nation continue to strive for greater unity, peace, and prosperity, Easter calls on us all to embrace these virtues in our daily lives. It challenges us to put the collective good above personal interests and to remain steadfast in our commitment to building a better society.
“As a government, we remain resolute in our promise to protect lives and property, strengthen our security architecture, and create an enabling environment for development to thrive. We are inspired by the resilience of our people and encouraged by your continuous support and cooperation. Together, we will continue to consolidate on the gains we have made in security, infrastructure, healthcare, and economic growth.”
HIS Borno counterpart, Babagana Zulum, has felicitated with the Christian community in the state on the occasion.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, the governor described Easter as a sacred period that embodies sacrifice, forgiveness and love.
The governor noted that the celebration marks the culmination of the 40-day Lenten season activities, a period devoted to fasting, abstinence, prayer, repentance, self-discipline, and sober reflection.
He reaffirmed that his administration’s commitment to improving the security, welfare, and overall well-being of the people of the state would be sustained.
Felicitating the Christian community, Zulum further disclosed in the statement that, “this year, we have scaled up our palliative distribution to reach more than 300,000 families in an effort to cushion the effects of the current socio-economic hardships in the country.
“It is, however, encouraging to note that many vulnerable households have benefited from this intervention.”
The governor also called for unity and restraint, particularly in the current political climate.
ALSO, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, extended Easter greetings to Christians across Nigeria and urged all citizens to embrace the timeless values of sacrifice, hope, peace, love, and national unity, as the country marks this year’s celebration.
In his goodwill message, Yilwatda described Easter as the cornerstone of the Christian faith and a season that powerfully reminds believers of the redemptive sacrifice, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
According to him, Easter is not only a period of celebration for Christians, but also a solemn moment of reflection on the deeper lessons of faith, resilience, forgiveness, humility, and hope in the face of adversity.
The politician noted that the message of Easter remains profoundly relevant to Nigeria’s current realities, calling on citizens to draw inspiration from the resurrection story and remain steadfast in faith and patriotism despite the challenges confronting the nation.
He urged Christians to use the period to recommit themselves to the virtues of righteousness, compassion, unity, prayer, and service to humanity, stressing that the nation needs men and women who would not only profess faith, but also live out its values in public and private life.
