Four persons have died in a lone auto crash that occurred in front of Christopher University along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.
Eight other persons also sustained varying degrees of injuries in the accident.
Involved in the crash is a White Toyota Hiace bus with registration number: AGL789YL.
Spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Afolabi Odunsi confirmed this to newsmen in a statement Abeokuta, yesterday.
Odunsi said that 13 persons (11 Adult Males, 2 Adult Females) were involved in the crash where eight persons (7 Adult Males, 1 Adult Female) sustained injuries and four others died on spot.
He said that the cause of the accident which occurred on Easter Sunday night at about 9:18p.m was due to tyre burst and speed violation resulting to the driver losing control of the vehicle.
The superintendent route commander said that the injured victims had been taken to Famobis Hospital for urgent medical attention, while the dead bodies deceased had been deposited at Idera Morgue.
He said that the Motor Traffic Division (MTD) of the Redeemed Police Station has taken custody of the crashed vehicle with all recovered properties and luggage belonging to the passengers for safe-keeping and further investigation.
However, the Sector Commander, Akinwunmi Fasakin, had expressed his condolences to the families of deceased, calling on all motorists to strictly adhere to speed limits and ensure their tires are in good condition.
Relatedly, Spokesperson of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) Babatunde Akinbiyi also confirmed the accident in a statement in Abeokuta yesterday.
Akinbiyi said that the lone crash occurred on Sunday night along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway due to excessive speed on the part of the driver of the Toyota Hiace bus.
He said that four persons died and eight persons(six males and two female adults) sustained injuries from the accident.
The TRACE Public Relations Officer said that it’s officers and men of the Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) and Nigeria police as well as OGSAES were on ground for rescue mission.
He noted that the four presumed corpse had been taken to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) Morgue in Sagamu, while the injured victims had been taken to Famobis Hospital for medical attention.
Akinbiyi added that the accident vehicle was towed from the scene and taken into police custody at Mowe MTD Police Redeem Division for further investigation.
