2027: Masari Cautions APC Leadership Against Undue Influence Ahead of Primaries

Masari Cautions APC Leadership Against Undue Influence Ahead of Primaries

Chairman of the Convention Central Co-ordination Committee, Aminu Bello Masari, has cautioned the newly elected National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against undue influence as the party prepares for its primaries ahead of the 2027 elections.

Masari gave the warning on Thursday in Abuja during the presentation of Certificates of Return to members of the newly elected NWC, describing the moment as a crucial transition for the party.

“We have one Working Committee that has just emerged, and we are immediately confronted with primaries from the local government level up to the national level,” he said, stressing the need for integrity and transparency in the process.

He urged the new leadership, led by the National Chairman of the party, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, to resist pressures that typically accompany party primaries and to ensure that internal democratic processes are upheld.

Masari expressed confidence in the capacity of the new leadership to build on past achievements and reposition the party for future electoral success.

Responding, Yilwatda described his emergence as a privilege and pledged to deepen internal democracy within the party even as he commended the convention planning team for what he called a peaceful and transparent exercise.

“This convention will go down in history as one without a single litigation. It was almost like a carnival rather than a convention,” he said.

The APC chief assured that the NWC would focus on strengthening party unity, expanding membership, and delivering credible primaries, while also promoting strong democratic institutions.

Also present at the event was Mai Mala Buni, who served as Secretary of the Convention Committee and participated in the presentation of certificates of return to the NWC members after delivering opening remarks.
