The Group Managing Director of Aeroport Aviation College, Dr Oludayo Gideon, has called for a stronger digital presence among members of the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA), saying that the perception of the travel industry is increasingly shaped online.
Speaking with journalists in Lagos yesterday, Gideon who is a frontline contender for the position of National Publicity Secretary of NANTA, said that a robust digital communication ecosystem was critical to improving visibility and controlling the narrative of the association.
He declared that publicity goes beyond posting of photos, as it shapes perception, protects reputation and amplifies the voice of members.
He further called on NANTA leadership to embrace intentional, structured and forward-looking communication to remain relevant in an evolving global travel landscape.
He outlined a five-point agenda centred on quality representation, enhanced digital presence, strategic media engagement, increased member visibility and long-term narrative building if voted in office.
Gideon explained that projecting a unified and professional image would position NANTA more competitively both locally and internationally, while stronger engagement with the media would establish the association as the authoritative voice in Nigeria’s travel sector.
He also lamented that many success stories within the association remained untold, pledging to spotlight the achievements of members across the country if elected.
He mentioned manpower development in the aviation and travel sector through Aeroport College of Aviation, where he has trained professionals now working across agencies, airlines and related organisations as some of his contributions to the development of the travel sector.
He further cited his role in founding the Travelpreneur Conference and Expo (TRAVCONEXPO), a platform designed to bring together key stakeholders in the travel ecosystem, including airlines, tour operators and regulators, to foster industry collaboration.
Gideon urged members of the association to support his candidacy, pledging to deliver a publicity framework that amplifies the voice of NANTA and strengthens its standing within Nigeria’s travel industry and beyond.
