PDP chieftain urges Abians to reject APC in 2027 election

THE Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Abia state Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ),

Mr Ikpegbu Emeka-Yellow, has stated why Abians should reject the APC in 2027 election, asserting that his PDP is firmly on ground in the state , and shall field ” credible, competent , and people- oriented candidates for all elections come 2027″.

His PDP Faction is the one being led at the national level by Mr Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, whose emergence was annulled by the court, but thereafter, he appealed against this judgment, which he said is still pending at the Supreme Court.

Emeka- Yellow, consequently urged those he classed as well- meaning Nigerians, to reject the ruling All Progressives Congress ( APC ) at the 2027 elections, positing that ” the APC has proven, beyond doubt, to be a monumental failure and a tragic experiment that has inflicted untold hardship on Nigerians”.

Emeka-Yellow, who spoke during an interaction with journalists in Umuahia, the Abia state capital, cited some of the areas he stated the APC government has failed, namely, unprecedented economic decline, rising insecurity, institutional decay, and collapse of public trust.

Emeka-Yellow who held that millions of Nigerians can barely afford basic necessities, while inflation has eroded incomes, unemployment skyrocketed, and businesses shutting down, argued that a government that has failed to improve the lives of its citizens in 11 years, cannot be trusted with even one more day in office.

He added that equally troubling is the systemic weakening of Democratic institutions, including the judiciary.

According to him, the APC has consistently undermined the independence of key institutions, while promoting a culture of impunity and propaganda, thus reducing governance to media spin, while real issues affecting citizens are ignored.

Urging Abians to be vigilant and discerning, Emeka-Yellow ) vowed that under no circumstances should Abia state fall into the hands of the APC, and alleged that the ” APC is ganging up against the development strides going on in Abia state now hence, arguing that vote for the APC, is therefore, a vote for hardship, stagnation and regression, warning that we must not import the failures of the APC controlled federal government into our Abia state”.

He therefore called on political leaders in Abia State , irrespective of their party affiliation, to rise above partisan interests and unite in defense of democracy.

He also extended a hand of collaboration to other opposition forces and parties in the state, urging that they work jointly in resisting any attempt by the APC to infiltrate, destabilize, or dominate the political space undemocratically.

To his PDP faithful loyalists, he urged them for calm, unity and steadfast support for the leadership of Kabiru Turaki -led National Working Committee, assuring them that “the PDP is repositioned , reinvigorated, and ready to rescue Nigeria from the grip of misrule come 2027”.

Asked why his Turaki-led PDP national leadership, that reportedly is not recognized by the INEC is still in office, and himself ( Emeka- Yellow ) became the state Caretaker Committee Chairman, instead of the duly elected state Chairman , Elder Abraham Amah.

Emeka-Yellow reacted that the Turaki-led leadership has appealed to the Supreme Court, challenging the lower court verdict that annulled his emergence based on the PDP Ibadan Convention from which Turaki emerged, stating that Turaki is hopeful of winning the appeal at the Supreme Court

Emeka-Yellow also said that Elder Abraham Amah was removed as the state Chairman on 25th May, 2025, by an Abia State High Court sitting in Bende
