The 2026 edition of the Kwarans and Friends Forum, organized by Omotomo Colour Media Concept, transformed into a powerful intersection of advocacy and inspiration this week.
Bringing together a prestigious assembly of traditional rulers, political heavyweights and media veterans, the event centered on the urgent themes of ‘Humanity and Peaceful Coexistence’.
While the forum provided a high-level platform for discussing Nigeria’s security landscape, it also served as a profound celebration of its convener, AbdulWasiu Salaudeen (popularly known as Omotomocolour). Salaudeen, a staffer at Radio Nigeria, was hailed as a living testament to the triumph of the human spirit over physical limitations.
The Chief Host and General Manager of Bond FM, Alhaji AbdulWahab Akoshile, delivered an emotional tribute to Salaudeen’s tenacity. He noted that Salaudeen’s career trajectory has become a source of hope for those facing similar hurdles.
“There is a common saying that there is ability in disability; AbdulWasiu is the living proof.
“He has proven to us that no matter your situation in life, you can excel if you can think,” Akoshile remarked.
Akoshile noted that Salaudeen’s reputation has grown significantly, with high-profile figures across the country now seeking him out for interviews, a testament to his craftsmanship and tenacity.
Beyond the personal celebrations, the forum tackled the systemic issues plaguing the Nigerian state. Delivering the keynote lecture on peaceful coexistence, CEO of Garu Technology, Alhaji Lukman Garu, identified security as the fraying thread in the national fabric.
“Security is our common goal, yet it is what we lack most,” Garu stated.
He argued that the path to a better Nigeria requires a shift in leadership philosophy. “To achieve peace, we need strong leadership. Many leaders shy away from stern, necessary actions because they fear public condemnation. But without security, there is no foundation for the nation.”
Director of FRCN Lagos Operations, Princess Adenike Adejoke, emphasised that national peace is an extension of domestic harmony. “God created us to live peacefully, and this begins within the family before it transcends to the country at large,” she noted.
The event featured significant representation from the traditional institution.the Bashelu of Idofin Kingdom, Alhaji Tajudeen Sanni,
praised Salaudeen’s work ethic, noting that his dedication to tasks often surpasses those without physical hurdles. Similarly, the Onigbongbo of Igogbo, Oba Olusegun Ajasa, commended the convener for his refusal to remain redundant, stating, “God knows why He created you this way; your strength is an inspiration.”
In an address filled with gratitude, Salaudeen explained that the forum was his way of giving back to those who supported his media journey.
“The Vision is to encourage dialogue as a tool for strengthening communal ties. The Awards were presented to individuals who have contributed significantly to peace-building.
Salaudeen solicited further financial support to scale his dream project, aimed at fostering greater social engagement.
