Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has commended Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, for promoting the state and the Adeleke family on the global stage.

The governor gave the commendation following a traditional panegyric rendered during Davido’s performance at the 2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California, United States.

In a post shared on his X handle on Sunday alongside a video of the performance, Adeleke described the moment as a source of pride for the family and the state.

The video showed a lively build-up on the Gobi Stage, with bright red and yellow visuals, fireworks display and coordinated stage performers.

At the centre of the introduction was Davido’s oríkì, a traditional Yoruba praise chant from Ede, his hometown in Osun State.

“Another proud moment. My nephew @davido putting the family, our heritage and state on the global map,” the governor posted.
Davido, who was the only Nigerian artiste on the official lineup for the 2026 Coachella festival, delivered an energetic performance.

He performed some of his popular songs, including Dami Duro, Skelewu, Aye, If, and With You.
