Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has expressed concern over the attempt by some suspected individuals to bomb government infrastructure and facilities in the state.
The governor, while describing the development as troubling, decried the involvement of some indigenes of the state in the purported plot.
According to Aiyedatiwa, some indigenes of the state colluded with some outsiders to plan the attack, which was foiled by security agencies.
He said: “Some people just woke up and they said they want to bomb us. For what reason? What have we done?
“How can citizens of Ondo State be joining outsiders to want to bomb Ondo State? For what reason? The six individuals, three from our state and three from other states that connived together to carry out that operation, are now in custody,” he said.
Aiyedatiwa said that efforts had been intensified to tackle the security situation in the state headlong, emphasising that no nation is 100 per cent free of crimes, but the degree of response of security agencies matters.
According to him, improved intelligence gathering and collaboration with residents have strengthened the state’s security response.
MEANWHILE, the lawmaker representing Oke-Igbo/Ile-Oluji/Odigbo Federal Constituency of Ondo State in the House of Representatives, Festus Adefiranye, has called for a structured collaboration between traditional rulers and the legislative arm of government.
According to the lawmaker, such synergy is essential and imperative for effective representation and grassroots development.
Adefiranye stated this during an interaction with journalists at Oke-Igbo, Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Council of the state.
He maintained that the parallel structure makes consultation with monarchs not merely advisable but necessary for meaningful lawmaking.
He noted that monarchs serve as custodians of their domains, making them indispensable to governance processes.
