Vice Chancellor, Minaret University

The academic landscape of Osun State witnessed a historic turning point today, April 30, 2026, as Minaret University, Ikirun, hosted its maiden matriculation ceremony.

The event officially inducted the institution’s pioneer cohort of students, marking the formal beginning of their academic journeys at the newly established university.

The ceremony, held at the university’s main campus, was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdur-Rahman Oladele Abdullah. In his address, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the matriculation represents more than just a formal registration; it is a pledge of the university’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and moral discipline.

Beyond the induction of students, the day featured a significant administrative milestone. The University Chancellor, Barrister Azeez Folorunso Alatoye, officially inaugurated the Parents Consultative Assembly (PCA).

The PCA is designed to be a cornerstone of the university’s governance strategy, aiming to:

“Create a direct line of communication between the university management and guardians.Ensure parents are active stakeholders in the institutional development and align the university’s academic goals with the expectations and support of the students’ families.

The atmosphere in Ikirun was one of celebration, drawing a distinguished crowd of attendees, including members of the Governing Council, principal officers, and community leaders. Stakeholders from across the Nigerian education sector were present to witness what the Registrar, Oluyide Olu-Lawal, described as a landmark event for the region.”

The maiden matriculation signifies Minaret University’s commitment to academic excellence, moral discipline, and responsible citizenship,” the Registrar noted in an official statement.
