The Nigerian Air Force has carried out a targeted air operation in Katsina State, destroying a suspected terrorist logistics base and neutralising several fighters in a renewed offensive against armed groups.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja by the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Ehimen Ejodame, who confirmed that the operation took place on May 1 under the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma.
According to the statement, the strike targeted a location within the Dan-Aji Forest in Faskari Local Government Area, identified as a key logistics hub linked to a terrorist leader, Abasu Aiki, and his network operating across the Faskari, Kankara and Funtua axis.
Ejodame said intelligence reports had indicated renewed terrorist activity in the area, prompting swift military action.
“NAF air assets identified armed terrorists on motorcycles alongside other fighters within the enclave and executed a coordinated strike on the location.
“Battle damage assessment confirmed that several terrorists were neutralised, while the logistics hub and associated structures were destroyed,” he said.
He further explained that the airstrike triggered secondary explosions and widespread fires, significantly weakening the group’s operational capacity and disrupting its supply chain.
The operation, according to the Air Force, is part of ongoing efforts to degrade terrorist infrastructure and prevent the use of forested areas as safe havens for criminal elements.
Ejodame noted that the strike represents a strategic gain in limiting the movement and resupply of armed groups in the region, reaffirming the military’s commitment to sustained pressure on terrorist networks.
