Kaduna ADC faction conducts Ward, LGA Congresses ahead of primaries

African Democratic Congress (ADC)

Ahead of it’s primaries, the faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State led by Elder Patrick Didam Ambut on Thursday, conducted ward and local government congresses across the state’s 255 wards and 23 local government areas.

The faction disclosed that its State Congress is scheduled to hold on Friday, May 8, 2026.

The exercise was monitored in Giwa, Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Soba Local Government Areas, just as the process was conducted peacefully and orderly, without any hitches.

The Kaduna ADC has in recent months witnessed internal leadership disagreements involving the Elder Ambut-led executive and an opposing faction within the party.

Despite the disputes, party stakeholders have continued to affirm Elder Patrick Didam Ambut as the substantive state chairman, while the faction has maintained disciplinary actions against members accused of misconduct and anti-party activities.

In October 2025, Ambut dismissed reports of his suspension, describing them as attempts to destabilize the party.

Prominent stakeholders, including Senator Musa Bello and other party leaders, have also rejected congresses not conducted under the Ambut-led executive, insisting on the legitimacy of his leadership.

The party has equally intensified efforts to strengthen its structure ahead of the 2027 general elections through coalition engagements and the absorption of members from other political parties.

However, political observers say lingering legal disputes, internal divisions, and recent defections involving notable opposition figures such as Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Mr. Peter Obi remain significant challenges that could affect the party’s prospects at both the state and national levels ahead of the 2027 elections.
