Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested three persons with disabilities (PWDs), including a 60-year-old man, for alleged drug trafficking during operations in Anambra and Kwara states.
The agency said Romanus Nwabara was traced to Akpaka Forest in Onitsha, Anambra State, on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, where he was found with 250 grammes of skunk packaged in retail sachets.
In another operation in the Ogbunike area of the state on Thursday, May 7, NDLEA officers arrested another PWD, Amos Kenneth, 25, with 160.3 grammes of Tramadol 225mg and 100mg, 80 pills of Diazepam, 38.23 grammes of Exol 5 and 176.93 grammes of skunk.
In Kwara State, operatives intercepted a commercial vehicle and, during a search, discovered 6.3 kilogrammes of skunk concealed in a brown school bag belonging to a PWD identified as Usman Salisu.
Meanwhile, operatives of the agency’s Special Operations Unit on Friday, May 8, raided a mansion in Lekki, Lagos, allegedly used as a stash house, where 4,000 parcels of Loud, a strong strain of imported cannabis weighing 2,326 kilogrammes, were recovered.
The illicit drugs, valued at more than N5.8 billion, were seized from the house located at 36 African Lane, Lekki Phase 1.
The agency also recovered two Mercedes-Benz buses and designer sachets allegedly used for packaging the substance for retail distribution.
Elsewhere, Emmanuel Osita Okeke, 38, was arrested with 129 kilogrammes of skunk at Nyanya Karu, Nasarawa State, on Monday, May 4.
Similarly, NDLEA operatives on patrol along the Okene/Lokoja highway in Kogi State intercepted a white commuter J5 bus travelling to Abuja on Friday, May 8.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 76 jumbo bags of skunk weighing 766 kilogrammes and the arrest of three suspects identified as Mathew Omohove, Ebuka Desmond and Babangida Musa.
In Lagos, NDLEA officers on Wednesday, May 6, raided a makeshift skuchies production factory in the Ijora Badia area, where two suspects, Bose Jamiu and Gbenga Gege, were arrested.
The suspects were allegedly caught preparing cannabis mixed with other illicit substances. A total of 270 litres of skuchies and 106 grammes of Tramadol 225mg were recovered during the operation.
The agency added that its commands and formations across the country also sustained sensitisation campaigns under its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) initiative in schools, worship centres, workplaces and communities.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd), commended officers of the Special Operations Unit and commands in Anambra, Kwara, Kogi, Nasarawa and Lagos states for the arrests and seizures.
He urged them to sustain the current momentum in drug supply reduction and public sensitisation activities across the country.
