Police arrest suspected drug baron, two accomplices in Delta

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected drug baron and two accomplices in Warri as part of its ongoing crackdown on illicit drug trafficking and substance abuse in the state.

The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said the operation formed part of intensified efforts by the police to combat the distribution and abuse of hard drugs across Delta State.

The suspects, identified as Favour Isaac, 25, Favour Felix, 24, and Samson Precious, 19, were arrested following credible intelligence on the activities of suspected drug peddlers operating in the Ogbomoro and Ugolo communities in Warri.

Edafe said operatives attached to the Area Command, Effurun, carried out a covert operation on May 7, 2026, at about 9:20 p.m., leading to the arrest of the suspects.

He disclosed that the police executed a search warrant at the suspects’ hideout along River Road in Ogbomoro community, where several suspected illicit substances were recovered.

Items recovered during the operation included 21 bottles of CSC Codeine, two canisters containing nitrous oxide, popularly known as “laughing gas”, two packs of suspected psychoactive chewing gum branded “Highness Gum”, and 640 grammes of substances suspected to be Canadian Loud concealed in bags and containers.

According to Edafe, preliminary investigations revealed that one Rukewe Tega Isaac, who is currently at large, is believed to be the main supplier linked to the drug network.

He added that efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect and other members of the syndicate involved in the illegal drug trade.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Mr Yemi Oyeniyi, reiterated the command’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against drug trafficking and related criminal activities in the state.

Oyeniyi warned that the abuse and distribution of illicit drugs fuel violent crimes, cultism and other social vices among youths.

He urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to aid the fight against criminal networks and substance abuse.
