Nigerian fashion designer and entrepreneur Victoria James, popularly known as Veekee James, has officially announced the birth of her first child. The announcement, which was made via a heartfelt social media post, confirmed the arrival of a daughter named Eliana Adeife Atere.
The reveal video showed the newborn in a pink knitted sweater with her name beautifully embroidered across the front. The designer shared the meaning behind the name “Eliana.”
She wrote: “She’s Here @elianaatere 🥹 02-May-26. Eliana Adeife Atere. EL (God) and ANA (He has answered), signifying ‘My God has answered.’ 1 Samuel 1:27 — ‘For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of him’”.
This announcement follows months of intense speculation from the Nigerian public and her millions of followers that, for several months, the award-winning designer had not been seen at major high-profile events or industry gatherings within the country. This led to widespread rumours that she had travelled abroad to prepare for the birth of her child.
Veekee James and her husband, Femi Atere, gained public attention following their high-profile union. Their wedding, which took place in early 2024, is still regarded as one of the most extravagant and widely discussed celebrity marriages in recent Nigerian history. The multi-day celebration was a masterclass in luxury, featuring intricate traditional ceremonies and a grand white wedding. As a designer known for her impeccable craft, James wore several custom-made gowns that trended for weeks on social media. The event drew a massive audience online, with the hashtag for their wedding garnering millions of views as fans followed every detail, from the star-studded guest list to the sophisticated decor.
Beyond her personal life, Victoria James has built one of the most successful fashion empires in Africa. Since launching her brand, she has become the “go-to” designer for Nollywood celebrities, top musicians, and socialites. Her career is defined by her ability to create structured, feminine silhouettes that flatter various body types, a skill that has earned her several accolades in the fashion industry. Her success has not been limited to Nigeria; she has frequently showcased the strength of Nigerian couture on the international stage.
As news of the birth spreads, colleagues from the entertainment and fashion industries have flooded her comment section with congratulatory messages.
