Ahudiyannem FC battle Plateau United as round of 64 begins

Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL)

Giant-killers, Ahudiyannem Football Club of Abiriba, Abia State, have another opportunity to show that their exploits in this year’s The President Federation Cup are for real when they confront Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Plateau United, in one of the games of the Round of 64 in Makurdi today.

The round of 64 games of the President Federation Cup will begin in different cities across the country from today and end on Wednesday.

Ahudiyannem FC have been one of the sensation sides in this championship, with the youthful side accounting for the exit of battle-tested Abia Warriors earlier in the competition.

Last year, Ahudiynnem reached the same stage of the competition by defeating Imo State’s OISA FC 3-1, but they lost their round of 64 tie to today’s opponents after a hard-fought game that ended in a 1-2 loss.

So, today’s game is a battle for revenge for the team that have been steadily climbing up Nigeria’s football ladder.

In other games, the confrontation between Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi and Jigawa Golden Stars is no doubt the fixture to watch out for in this year’s President Federation Cup. That potentially explosive match will be held in Kaduna.

Cup holders Kwara United are up against Sporting Supreme U-19 boys in the Kogi State university town of Anyigba, while much-dreaded Kebbi United will be at the jugular of Shooting Stars of Ibadan in Abuja, just as two-time African champions Enyimba FC will take to the field against El-Sharma FC in Abuja.

Last year’s finalists, Abakaliki FC will tango with ABU DLC in Makurdi, just as Kogi United and Lobi Stars meet in Abuja and Rivers United go up against G12 FC from Lagos in Benin City.
