Governor of Edo State,Monday Okpebholo, has appointed Roland Igbadumhe as Special Adviser on Livestock Development, in a move aimed at strengthening the state’s agricultural value chain and boosting economic growth through livestock development.
The appointment, confirmed in an official statement from the Edo State Government, is being widely viewed as part of Governor Okpebholo’s broader effort to reposition the agricultural sector while creating opportunities for young professionals and emerging leaders in governance.
In the statement, Governor Okpebholo described Igbadumhe’s appointment as well-deserved, citing his commitment to service, leadership qualities and passion for the development of Edo State.
“This appointment is a testament to your exceptional leadership, dedication, unwavering commitment to service, and the continued growth and development of Edo State,” the governor stated.
“May your tenure be impactful, productive and bring lasting transformation to our dear state. We wish you success.”
The announcement has since attracted positive reactions from supporters, political associates and stakeholders across the state, many of whom described the appointment as a strategic step toward revitalising the livestock sector and empowering a new generation of leaders.
Reacting to the development, Igbadumhe expressed deep appreciation to Governor Okpebholo for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to justify the trust through hard work, innovation and commitment to the administration’s development agenda.
Igbadumhe, who previously served under former Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole, commended Governor Okpebholo for what he described as a deliberate effort to open governance space to young people with ideas and capacity to contribute meaningfully to society.
“I just want to appreciate the Governor of Edo State for his determination to develop Edo, make the state shine and create opportunities for young people with fresh ideas and good intentions,” he said.
“For the first time, young people who may not have political godfathers or influential backgrounds now have the opportunity to become something in Edo State because the governor has changed the narrative.”
He further assured residents that he would work closely with relevant ministries, agencies and stakeholders to drive reforms capable of transforming the livestock sector into a major contributor to the state’s economy.
According to him, collaboration with the Ministry of Livestock Development and the Ministry of Agriculture would be central to achieving sustainable growth, improving productivity and creating opportunities for farmers and rural communities.
Igbadumhe also reaffirmed support for the governor’s political and developmental vision, insisting that the administration continues to enjoy strong grassroots acceptance, particularly among youths in Edo North.
“It is time for us to change the narrative in Edo State. The youths are happy with the governor, especially in Edo North, where we remain fully united and committed to supporting his vision for the state,” he stated.
He pledged to use his new office to advance policies and programmes that would improve livestock production, support local farmers, encourage investment and contribute to the overall socio-economic development of Edo State.
